I hope you are all enjoying your Christmas trip around the world. There are some many nationalities with so many different traditions. It is exciting to share a tradition form my background. My Great Grand Parents were Hungarian and Slovak. I will be showcasing the Hungarian side ( I however am a modern American Mutt) . My Project for this hop is going to consist of handmade ornaments. The only difference is that I will be making them with paper and my cricut as opposed to fabric or glass.
Here are some pictures of some Hungarian ornaments.
Another Hungarian custom: Christmas tree decorations always include very special holiday candies, wrapped in bright gold, red, or other colored foil and tied with bows, called "Szaloncukor". These are chocolate on the outside, with marzipan, raspberry, orange or other flavored jellies inside.
I looked at these designs and thought the the perfect Cartridge to mimic these ornaments was the Paisley Cartridge. I have not gotten to use it much, so I was happy.
The ornaments I decided to make are of coarse made with paper and not felt. They are double sided. The base ornament was cut out at 3 1/2 inches using the Joys of the Season cartridge (page 79).
This first decoration is of the paisley on page 64. It was cut out 2 times at 2 inches as were the layers. Silver doodles were added for fun and Gold Stickles .....well I just can't leave out the Stickles. Its a law. :)
A bling was used for the center of the flower and red ribbon was looped threw the hole so that you can hang it on the tree.
For the second bright/bold ornament The doll on page 67 was used and cut out at 2 1/2 inches along with it's layers. Stickles in the color of PATINA was added along with a bling in the center of the flower. Red ribbon was also run through the hole.
Foe stitching was added on the image and the ornament to give it that sewn feel along with some dot doodles on the flower. Your next stop is Mariam over at http://mariamsatchell.blogspot.com/ .
